When the Atrai 2600 was first launched it was packaged with the game, Combat, and the system had eight other games sold seperatly at the time. It came with 2 joystick controllers and was originally priced at US$199. It was a huge success for Atari Inc. because it sold really well. Its controller had one joystick and one button. The button started the game and did things like jumping or firing weapons depending on the game. The joystick usually moved the spaceship or character around on the game screen also depending on what game was being played at the time. The console's life span of being sold ended in about 1984 or 1985 when the Atari 2600 Jr. came out.
